The rights related to author’s rights are the rights of performer and interpreter artists over their interpretations and executions, the rights of producers of phonograms over their recordings and the rights of broadcasting organizations over their radio and television programs.

The Intellectual Property is defined as the rights related to:

- Literary, artistic and scientific works.

- Interpretations of interpreter artists and the executions of performer artists, phonograms and broadcasted programs.

- Inventions in all fields of human activity.

- Scientific discoveries. Industrial drawings and models.

- Brands of manufacture, commerce and service, as well as commercial names and denominations.

Creative innovations and expressions of local and indigenous communities are also intellectual property; however, since they are “traditional”, they do not receive the protection that is granted by the present systems of Intellectual Property. The World Organization for Intellectual Property has begun to carry out programs to implement norms and strengthen capabilities in order to elaborate practical and juridical measures that are adequate and balanced.
